The children of St. Jude all came out winners this past Saturday, even though there were no official runners crossing the finish line after icy weather conditions cancelled the St. Jude Marathon Weekend.
Fertility Associates of Memphis, a bronze-level sponsor of the St. Jude Marathon Weekend, gave more than $3,000 to St. Jude as part of its fundraising efforts, including a Facebook campaign that rewarded each new “like.” The money raised at events like the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend are critical to St. Jude’s ability to treat kids with cancer and ensure no family ever pays St. Jude for anything.
Dr. William Kutteh, managing partner at Fertility Associates of Memphis, said, ” We believe it’s important to give back to our community. That’s why we were so proud to sponsor the charity run for St. Jude, and we look forward to making this an annual event. Our team didn’t run the 5K, but in our hearts, we know the most important thing is ensuring patients at St. Jude get the care they need.”
Fertility Associates of Memphis continues to work closely with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and other cancer centers to get the word out about fertility preservation. Many cancer treatments, specifically chemotherapy and radiation, are well documented to cause a decrease in both male and female fertility. This is particularly true in pediatric patients. But children diagnosed with cancer don’t have to give up their dream of one day having a family.
At Fertility Associates of Memphis, our onco-fertility program gives cancer patients the opportunity to preserve their fertility and future parenthood options. Thanks to techniques like egg freezing and sperm freezing, patients have more choices than ever before.
We are resolved to providing the very best health care to patients in the Mid-South, and we prioritize cancer patients to be seen by one of our physicians within 24 to 48 hours once our office is contacted by an oncologist. For more details about fertility preservation in cancer patients, we encourage you to contact our office. Because everyone deserves the chance to have a family.
